Watch That Sound & Rewire education

For the second year in a row Rewire education is working together with Rotterdam's 'Watch That Sound': an organization of musicians and composers that develop educational projects, workshops and software centred on music and image education. 

For Rewire they have developed the workshop 'Online composition' (Dutch description below) where students create their own soundtrack using online instruments (including digital synthesizers and drum computers) for an animation made by motion graphic artist and 3D designer Mike Phonk. 

This workshop was recently held at Alfrink college in Zoetermeer where students worked in small groups to create unique soundtracks using digital instruments like the classic 808 drum sequencer and their own voices. The result of this workshop will be on this blog shortly and will be the first in a collection of soundtracks that other classes can use as inspiration for their own compositions. 

NL omschrijving workshop:

In deze workshop gaan de deelnemers aan de slag met nieuwe manieren om audiovisuele composities te maken van online audiobronnen, zoals moderne technologische applicaties als web audio. Na een korte introductie over sound design selecteren leerlingen beelden als inspiratie voor de audiovisuele compositie. In kleine groepen werken ze vervolgens met verschillende online audiobronnen en de verschillende tools.

Na afloop van de workshop worden de resultaten online gezet als onderdeel van het ‘online composition’ netwerk. Dit netwerk vormt weer nieuwe online (audio)bronnen en inspiratie voor een volgende groep workshop deelnemers. Door op de bestaande online werken te reageren blijft het online netwerk groeien.
